#Create and manage people in Smart CRM
People records represent individual customer contacts and should be linked to the company they belong to whenever that relationship is known.
#Who this is for
Use this guide when adding or maintaining a buyer, decision-maker, supplier contact, or another individual.
#Create a person
- Open People in the CRM sidebar.
- Search existing contacts first.
- Select Create and enter the verified name.
- Select the known company, or create it from the company selector when appropriate.
- Complete standard and approved custom fields only with information your team can support.
- Save and reopen the record to check its company link.
#Keep the contact useful
Use the person record for the individual’s relationship and contact context. Add tasks for concrete follow-up and notes for meeting context or facts that do not belong in a structured field. Update the existing record when details change instead of creating another contact.
#FAQ
#Should I create a person before a company?
Create or select the company when it is known, then link the person. If the company is unknown, keep the contact information accurate and link it later.
#How do I avoid duplicate contacts?
Search by name and known company before creating a record, then compare email, phone, and company identity.
