#Protect customer data and credentials
Use only the customer information needed for a task, keep credentials private, and check all external-facing content before use.
#Who this is for
Use this guide whenever you upload customer material, connect an application, use AI output, or share a link or screenshot.
#Check data before uploading or sharing
- Confirm that the current team is responsible for the customer.
- Upload only the file, email, or data needed for the task.
- Remove unrelated personal information, restricted documents, and private customer material.
- Before sharing output, verify names, prices, quantities, dates, contacts, and commercial commitments.
- Hide customer data, passwords, keys, and authorization headers in screenshots.
Never send passwords, API keys, client secrets, or complete authorization headers through chat, email, support messages, or public links.
#Respond to an exposed credential
- Change a password or revoke the affected API key immediately.
- Reconnect the related application or replace its credential in the approved service.
- Check which customer data or actions may have been exposed.
- Contact support with the product, time, and affected account—never the secret value.
